In between discussions about piloting airplanes and the challenge of sticking to his vegan diet during film shoots, the actor known for portraying the opera-loving Klingon officer upon Picard’s Starship Enterprise revealed that the role he was currently working on was in the movie based on Konami’s storied vampire-hunting franchise. I sat in the parking lot of the Fry’s in Alpharetta, Georgia on Saturday evening, staring at my iPhone’s music application. “What Castlevania movie?” I asked myself. Then I went inside and bought a bunch of fun things and promptly forgot I had heard him say it, like an idiot. It’s based on a video game. People have been trying to get this thing done for a long time and they finally got the producers together that want to do it. They finally got the OK from the owners, rummy mars and so they’re doing it. It’s a fun little part. It’s four days, and I’m playing a werewolf that’s been around for a gajillion years who works for this vampire. It’s not too far from Worf because there’s a lot of killing and jumping and sword fights and everything. It’s pretty amazing that a movie based on Castlevania, a project we’d heard nothing about since 2010, has quietly slipped into filming without anyone knowing it.
