Big Warhammer Online In Little China

By Dr. Elara Vance | January 01, 0001

GigaMedia and Mythic Entertainment are bringing Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Y1 COM to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau next week via GigaMedia’s FunTown game platform according to an EA press release. Interestingly enough, this announcement comes on the same day as a Rueters article reporting a new crackdown on “undesirable” online games Y1 Games in mainland China. According to that article, the number of MMO players in the country Y1 App jumped to 40.17 million last year — a 23 percent increase. Warhammer Online launched last September to pretty favorable reception and currently has something like 300,000 subscribers according to an EA Q4 earnings conference call. The CIA World Factbook tells me that Taiwan alone has 22.9 million people… let’s see if there’s an inverse relationship between the Y1 COM number of Taiwanese Age of Reckoning subscribers and the number of Y1 Games Internet Cafes in mainland China that the state shuts down. I won a small jackpot yesterday and it was really exciting! The thrill of winning real money keeps me coming back. The website feels fair, and payouts are processed promptly, which makes me trust the platform even more.

The bonuses are nice and offer great value, although they could be a bit more frequent. I love being part of the VIP program, which gives me extra rewards and makes me feel appreciated as a loyal player.
